  • Born on 10th February, 1805 at Kainakari in Alappuzha district.
  • Died in 1871 January 3.
  • First Vicar General in Kerala.
  • Founded St. Joseph's Press in Mannanam, Kottayam.
  • It was the third Press in Kerala.
  • First book to be printed from St. Jospeh's Press was Njanapeeyusham.
  • Nasrani Deepika (the newspaper founded in 1887 by Nidheerikal Maani Kathanaar) was printed from St. Joseph's press.
  • Kuriakose Elias became a priest in 1829.
  • He became a Vicar in Zero Malabar Catholic Church in 1861.

  • Kuriakose Alias was the first Superior General of CMI.
  • He is called the Father of Literacy in Kerala.

  • His famous works are - Dhyana Sallapangal, 40 Maniyude Kramam, Koonammaavu Madam, Nalaagamam, Zero Malabar Sabhayude Calendar, Aathmaanuthaapam, Marna Parvvam and Anasthaasyayude Rakthasaakshithwam.
  • He spent his last days in St. Philomena's Church.
  • He was inducted in Indian Post Stamp in 1987.
  • He was inducted as A Venerated One by Pope John Paul II in 1986 February 8.
  • He was declared as a Saint by Pope Francis VI on 2014 November 23.
